incorporated Platform 4’s Board of Directors meets quarterly
to oversee both the artistic and the management side of the company's
work. Together with the Artistic Director they formulate artistic
policy, guide strategic planning and help make key decisions.
Dr Marianne Sharp is Senior Lecturer, teaching Drama and Acting at the University of Winchester. She trained and studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama (London) and Royal Holloway College, University of London, UK. She has previously worked for several years as an actress in touring theatre in the UK and continental Europe, and as a director and workshop facilitator in Drama Schools, youth theatre and applied contexts. She makes work as a performer and director and has published on acting and performance practices in international peer-reviewed books and journals.
Dr Helen Grime
Dr Helen Grime is a Senior Lecturer in Drama at Winchester University where she leads the Drama Programme. As a theatre historian, she is interested in women's contributions to the theatre and representation of women on the British stage, especially in the inter-war period and enjoys spending her time in archives. She works as a consultant and collaborator on performance projects and with writers in the development of new work for stage and screen. For the past decade she has co-ordinated The Tempest Club, a collaborative project with Simon Plumridge, which brings together students, graduates and professionals to read Shakespeare plays for fun.
Richard Cuming - Chair of Platform 4
Richard is currently head of performing arts and chair of Creative
Practice at the University of Winchester, where he teaches, devises,
directs and researches.
Richard has been at the forefront of Clown and Physical Theatre
for 20 years, co-founding the clown troupe, Zippo and Company.
His company, fishproductions created Love Me Tender and The Family
Outing Caravan Holiday. Recently he directed The Belfast Community
Circus in a large-scale project for Belfast Cathedral Festival.
Previously he has directed No 2 Theatre Co, Maxey and Harvey, Nofit
State Circus and The Foolhardies. Richard directed Animal Tales
for Platform 4 in 2000 and co-directed The Visitation of Mr Collioni
Deborah is currently Head of Fundraising and Development at The Nuffield Theatre in Southampton, where she has worked for 7 years. Prior to working in arts funding, she was a fundraiser for The British Red Cross and Leukaemia Busters. She is a member of the Chesil Theatre in Winchester where she has enjoyed a number of roles including that of Chairman 2007 - 2010. She is currently responsible for the theatre's marketing function. Always keen to try something new, Deborah can now add Deputy Stage Manager to her skills and is hoping to direct her first full-length play at the Chesil in 2013. She is thrilled and honoured to be invited to join the Board of Platform4 and looks forward to becoming more involved with this dynamic and inspirational young company.
Directors give their time voluntarily and bring a wealth of skills
to the company including theatre, finance, human resources, business,
education, local promotion and project management.
